Specialist courier firm Panther Warehousing has opened a depot on the outskirts of Bristol to strengthen its presence in the South West.
The 25,000 sq ft unit on the Pucklechurch Trading Estate takes to seven the total number of Panther sites across the UK.
More than 25 jobs have being created at the depot with a further 40 to follow over the next three months, the firm said. The depot handles on average around 1,000 items a night with deliveries taking place across greater Bristol and South Wales in a fleet of 20 vehicles.
The opening comes two years after the Northampton-based company expanded into the South West with a depot at Taunton.
Panther describes itself as a “white-glove specialist” as its two-man delivery teams take the product into a room of the customer’s choice and remove the packaging. In some cases it even installs products.
The Bristol depot is part of a strategic £3m investment programme over the next five years.
Panther has doubled its turnover in the past two years from just under £13m in 2013 to a projected £26.5m this year.
Managing director Colin McCarthy said: “We are delighted to be opening our seventh depot in the UK in response to increasing demand for our premium white glove, two-man delivery services.
“With the boom in internet shopping, and with more and more people having confidence to order large items online, particularly within the home furnishings sector, we expect that demand for our specialised services will grow and grow.”
