Cyclists from Bristol are on their way to Paris to present the city’s manifesto for action on climate change at next week’s COP21 summit.

The four-day ride, backed by a hugely successful Crowdfunder campaign, has been organised by Love The Future, the not-for-profit social and environmental behaviour change organisation. It will argue for action on climate change by drawing on the comments from Bristolians in the manifesto.

The 15 cyclists were given an official send-off by Mayor of Bristol George Ferguson, who will travel to Paris next week along with global political leaders. The city is playing a lead role in COP21 during its year as European Green Capital and is co-hosting the regional pavilion with Paris.

COP21 is widely viewed as the best opportunity in six years to achieve a significant advance on tackling rising temperatures.

Your Group, Sustain, Converging World, Landmark Practice and Natracare are sponsoring the Le Cop Crusade, allowing for further cyclists to join to increase its impact.

The bike ride comes at an important time for sustainability – the COP (Conference of the Parties) is in its 21st year and being hosted in Paris as Bristol comes to the close of its year as European Green Capital – making it the perfect chance for Bristol to make its opinions on climate change heard on a world stage.
