The NSPCC has launched the Bristol Business 1,000 club – a networking and fundraising group aiming to raise £1,000 per business per year. The group will also meet regularly to share business ideas and network.
Over the past year nearly 40 local companies have collectively raised more than £40,000 for the NSPCC, including Ascent PR, IoD Bristol Branch, BNI chapters of Bradman and Brunel, Chorus IT, Alder King, Metek UK Ltd, Target, Sogeclair Aerospace and Meridian Property.
The goal for this year is to raise funds for the new NSPCC Bristol Service Centre.
The NSPCC has had a presence in Bristol since the city became the location for its first ever branch in 1887. The charity will soon launch its new centre in the city, housing purpose built facilities to help the most vulnerable children, including babies and those who have suffered physical abuse and neglect
NSPCC corporate manager Karen Drew said: “£1,000 would help us protect 25 babies under our Non Accidental Head Injury (NAHI) project in Bristol, it would pay for arts and crafts materials, dolls and dolls’ houses to enable children to express themselves and explain events that may be too painful for them to talk about.
“It would also go half-way to paying for a vulnerable parent to attend a four month parenting course under our project Pregnancy, Birth and Beyond or help provide hours of professionals’ time offering therapeutic support to children who have been victims of physical, emotional or sexual abuse, suffered neglect or who are in care.”
