A kids’ TV series co-made by Bristol animation production studio A Productions has been shortlisted for two major broadcast industry awards – one national and one international.

Described as ‘the ultimate make-and-do’ show, The Makery helps educate children through play and is packed with quirky crafts, brilliant baking and creative takeovers.

It is a live action production commissioned by Sky Kids and produced by Terrific Television with animated segments and after effects made by Bristol-based A Production.

The third series of the show, which is presented by Nim Odedra, pictured, with narration from Stephen Mangan, has been shortlisted in the Best Pre-school Programme category in the Broadcast Awards 2025 and in the Pre School Best Live-Action Series category of the 2025 Kidscreen Awards.

The Broadcast Awards, to be staged in London in February, celebrate the best in British TV channels and content, while the Kidscreen Awards pay tribute to outstanding TV and digital media work that keeps kids and families entertained around the world.

The winners will be announced during the Kidscreen Summit 2025 in San Diego, also in February.

Founded in 1985 and based across two studios in Bristol, A Productions has grown rapidly over the past five years, providing animated content for broadcasters and subscription video on demand providers, including CBeebies, CITV, Channel 4, MAX and Sky.

Its output has included award-winning JoJo & Gran Gran, the first UK pre-school animation to centre on a Black British family. which is produced by BBC Studios Kids & Family Productions for CBeebies; Pip and Posy Let’s Learn, produced by Magic Light Pictures for Sky Kids; and Sesame Street animated specials Furry Friends Forever, Elmo gets a Puppy and The Monster at the End of This Story for Sesame Workshop.

It recently began working on My Friend Maisy, a series based on the much-loved Maisy books, written and illustrated by Lucy Cousins.

A Productions joint managing director Katherine McQueen said: “It’s wonderful to see The Makery Series 3 being recognised both nationally and internationally.

“Congratulations to everyone involved in this fantastic show which encourages children to get creative, have fun and learn through play.”
