One hundred businesswomen from across Bristol met yesterday to celebrate their contribution to the life and wealth of the city.
The gathering at the the Avon Gorge Hotel, Clifton, was one of a number of similar events staged across the globe as part of International Women’s Day.
All the meetings were on, or near, bridges – hence the Bristol 100 group assembling at a hotel with the Clifton Suspension Bridge as its backdrop.
The Join Me On The Bridge campaign showcased the impact of women in business in their locality as well as reaching out to enterprising women in poorer and more dangerous cities around the world whose work is vital to rebuilding peaceful, happy and prosperous communities.
Organiser Joni Farthing, who also runs the Athena Network connecting and supporting women in business in Bristol, said: “Women are great bridge builders in damaged communities.
“We want to celebrate our success here in beautiful Bristol and we want to help women elsewhere have similar success.”

The campaign was run by Women for Women International which has helped more than a third of a million women in desperate circumstances gain a livelihood for themselves and their families.
