Bristol business owners are to be shown how to promote their goods and services effectively through social media at two workshops being staged by BRAVE Enterprise, the city-based independent business support organisation.
It is running the practical half-day courses – Using Social Media and Introduction to Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) – on February 9 its base at The Coach House on Upper York Street. 
The Using Social Media workshop is for people who want to learn how to make Facebook and Twitter work better for their business. It will teach how to be more organised and strategic about your social media marketing.
By the end of the seminar, business owners will understand the possibilities of cost-effective content marketing channels and be better at promoting themselves. Attendees will take away some tools and tips to make it easier to manage.
The course will cover:
- Building appropriate connections
- Tips for creating great content
- Use of a business blog
- Use of a Twitter profile
- Use of a Facebook profile
- Tips and tools to organise online marketing
The Search Engine Optimisation workshop is for anyone whose website plays a key part in their business. This jargon-free course will equip them with the tools they need to make their site feature more highly in Google and other search engines.
The course will cover:
- How do search engines work?
- The changing face of SEO
- How to make it work for you?
- Checklist to boost your website
Both workshops are being presented by Amy Morse, an experienced trainer who has specialised in working with start-ups and small businesses over the past few years.
