Bristol-headquartered personal injury and clinical negligence law practice Enable Law has taken on brain injury specialist Huw Ponting as a partner.

Huw, pictured, joins Enable Law – part of South West law firm Foot Anstey – from the personal injury team at rival regional specialist practice Novum Law (formerly part of Thrings), where he was a partner and then director for more than 20 years.

He brings considerable experience of representing victims of head and brain injuries to Enable Law and also acts as a deputy – a professional appointed by the Court of Protection to help individuals look after their financial affairs when they lack the mental capacity to do so themselves.

In this role he acts for a number of his current and former brain injury clients, managing their compensation awards and helping them to live as independently as possible.

Enable Law head, partner Rob Antrobus, said: “It’s great to be able to welcome a lawyer of Huw’s calibre and expertise to Enable Law.

“The partners and the rest of the team are excited to be working alongside him to deliver the best possible service for our clients.”

Huw added: “I am delighted to move my practice to Enable Law to add to its already significant presence in the fields of complex litigation and specialist Court of Protection work.”

Outside of the office, Huw chairs the board of trustees of Headway Bristol, the charity supporting those living with brain injury, and recently joined the board of Herefordshire Headway.

He lectures frequently and trains other solicitors, barristers, students, case managers and other professionals working in the field of brain injury on complex aspects of law and rehabilitation.
