South West chartered accounting firm Albert Goodman has strengthened its Bristol base with the arrival of Dawn Baker as partner, practice protection and forensic services.
The firm, which opened the office last year, described Dawn’s appointment as a significant hire that bolstered its service offerings in forensic accounting as well as enhancing its commitment to delivering a high quality of service to its clients.
An alumnus of the University of Exeter, Dawn, pictured, has lived in the South West for more than 25 years.
She joins Albert Goodman from national accountancy group BDO. Prior to that, she worked for KPMG for 17 years and at Smith & Williamson (now Evelyn Partners) for two.
During her career, she has gained considerable experience of forensic accounting, expert witness cases, regulatory compliance, fraud investigations and risk management.
Dawn said: “Albert Goodman has an outstanding reputation across the South West, built up for over a century.
“I’m excited about the opportunity to bring my larger firm experience to Albert Goodman, whilst enjoying the benefits of adopting a more personal approach to client service that comes from working for a smaller firm.”
Dawn joins Albert Goodman during a strong period of growth for the firm following a 17% increase in revenue last year.
As well as upgrading its small hub in Westbury-on-Trym in 2023 into a 3,000 sq ft office in Bristol city centre, it also opened a base in Yeovil.
Albert Goodman partner and Bristol Office lead, Chris Walford, said: “Dawn brings a significant skillset and a high level of expertise to the table.
“Her experience in regulatory compliance and forensic services, combined with a passion for developing people will be invaluable to the team, as we look to always innovate and provide the best possible service to our clients.”
Albert Goodman’s other locations include its Taunton HQ and offices in Weston-super-Mare and Weymouth.
The 158-year-old firm works across a range of specialisms spanning audit & accounts and business support services to litigation support, payroll bureau and VAT services.
