A team from the Bristol office of accountants Bishop Fleming is taking part in a 325-mile cycle relay challenge to raise funds for homeless charity Julian House.
The 20-strong Bristol team will start from their office in Queen Square in a four-day relay that goes from the firm’s office in Truro and finishes at is Worcester branch.
More than 100 Bishop Fleming staff from all their offices – Bath, Exeter, Plymouth, Torquay, Truro and Worcester as well as Bristol – are taking part. Each office has chosen its own local charity.
Tax executive Joanna Purnell said: “We certainly have a big challenge to tackle, but we are very keen to raise as much as we can for Julian House and that will spur us on.”
Julian House funding co-ordinator Cathy Adcock added: “We are delighted to be one of the chosen charities for Bishop Fleming’s adventurous cycling challenge and are really encouraged to see regional companies going to such lengths to support local charities.
“The sponsorship Bishop Fleming raise will help us to provide services for homeless and excluded individuals, including support for domestic violence, addiction recovery, work experience and training.
“It’s also very fitting that the route passes by two of our social enterprises in Bristol and Bath – the Julian House Bike Workshops. The workshops refurbish and sell donated bikes, recycle spares and provide high quality bike servicing. They also offer real work place experience to those who are often disconnected from mainstream society.”
The ride takes place in the second week of September and up to that date the office will be trying to gather as many pledges of support as they can. Donations can be made via Just Giving http://www.justgiving.com/teams/TourOfBF
