An epic Land’s End-to-Bristol cycle challenge along with auctions, raffles, dress-down days and a firm-wide bake off helped Bristol law firm Barcan+Kirby raise more than £12,000 for its charity of the year.
The range of activities meant the firm, which has six offices in and around the city, ended the year by presenting a cheque to The Grand Appeal for £12,325.
The Bristol Children’s Hospital charity supports children and their families at the hospital and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at St Michael’s.
More than £9,000 of the total amount was brought in by the mammoth bike ride, during which Giles Woodward – one of the firm’s founding partners – and its compliance manager Gemma Geoghegan cycled 160 from the tip of Cornwall back to Bristol.
Staff also hosted three auctions, two raffles, 12 dress-down days and a Barcan+Kirby Bake Off Challenge to reach the final sum.
Managing partner Bill Willcocks said: “We are thrilled to have been able to raise such a wonderful sum for The Grand Appeal, a charity that works tirelessly in support of the children and their families being cared for by Bristol Children’s Hospital.
“Thanks also to all the staff at Barcan+Kirby who took on the many fundraising challenges and events with so much enthusiasm.”
The Grand Appeal corporate partnerships manager Helen Haskell said: “Corporate partnerships play a vital role in the level of support we can provide to the hospital and we treasure ours with Barcan+Kirby.
“They’ve shown determination, passion and a real drive to help their local community, through fundraising events, Gromit Unleashed 2 sponsorship and of course Giles and Gemma’s superhuman efforts in our Land’s End-to-Bristol cycle.
“A huge thank you to every single person involved in raising such a fantastic amount for sick children and their families from across the South West.”
Barcan+Kirby provides a comprehensive range of legal services, including residential conveyancing, family law and mediation, issues relating to Power of Attorney and wills and estate planning as well as corporate and commercial work.
