Rapid-growth tech firms from Bristol are being invited to enter one of the sector’s longest-running annual awards schemes as it prepares to showcase another group of highly successful and innovative companies.
Now in its 26th year, the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 ranks the UK’s fastest-growing tech firms based on the last four years of revenue growth.
Nearly 80 firms from across the South West have been recognised in the awards over the years, including Bristol firms Mubaloo, the pioneering app developer, digital marketing firm Smart Traffic and technology-driven marketing agency Seeker Digital, whose expansion of nearly 1,700% in just four years meant it ranked 25th in 2020’s list.
Last year Bristol specialist software firm Deazy was even more successful – its staggering 2,615% hike in revenue over the previous four years put it at 13th.
In total, last year’s Fast 50 companies generated cumulative revenues of £992m in 2021/22 – an average growth rate of 4,568% – and employed more than 16,000 people.
Firms operating in all parts of the tech sector from adtech, biotech, cleantech and consumertech, to edtech, fintech, healthtech, insuretech and communications can enter the awards.
Following the successful launch of the Women in Leadership category last year, this year’s awards will mark the inaugural cleantech award, recognising climate technologies within the Technology Fast 50 ranking for their contribution to the UK’s net zero target.
Fast 50 lead for the South West at Deloitte, Ed Bell, pictured, said: “It’s essential that we continue to recognise the importance of start-up businesses for regional economies, which provide crucial jobs, investment and growth to the region.
“I’d love to see even more nominations from the South West and would encourage tech businesses based in Bristol to enter.”
Deloitte UK Technology Fast 50 programme lead partner Kiren Asad added: “The UK start-up scene has shown its resilience and strength despite considerable challenges in the last few years.
“For that reason, it’s so important that we celebrate the extraordinary achievements of some of the fastest-growing tech companies in the country.
“Our annual Technology Fast 50 awards, now in their 26th year, showcase the businesses that are making a real influence in their sectors.
“We look forward to viewing this year’s entries, including those in our new CleanTech award category, which will help us to celebrate the successes of businesses working towards net zero.”
Accountancy group Deloitte’s search for the UK’s fastest-growing tech companies is supported by sponsors Oracle NetSuite, BGF, Multiverse and HSBC Innovation Banking.
