The Bristol office of South West law firm Ashfords has advised innovative data management company ClusterHQ on the UK legal aspects of its $12m (£7.8m) funding round.

As reported on Bristol Business News last week, the Series A funding was led by US tech fund Accel Partners, with participation from Canaan Partners and existing investors.

Bristol-based ClusterHQ will use funds raised to expand its technical and go-to-market resources with the expansion of its headquarters in the San Francisco Bay Area to complement its Bristol development team.

The company is developing pioneering cutting-edge technology used by software developers.

The Bristol-based Ashfords team was led by partner and head of corporate Andrew Betteridge and corporate senior associate Rory Suggett.

Rory said: “It was great to work with the ClusterHQ team and help them make the leap across to the US for the next phase of the Company’s expansion.

“This is an exciting time for the company, with its Flocker project generating a real buzz in the industry. It is an excellent example of Bristol entrepreneurs creating world-class technology which has enabled the Company to secure finance from a leading institutional VC fund such as Accel.”
