Global engineering consultancy Parsons Brinkerhoff has relocated its Bristol base in the city’s second-largest office deal of 2014.
The firm, whose interest span planning, engineering, and program and construction management, has taken just over 17,000 sq ft at Kings Orchard, the landmark office building next to Castle Park overlooking Bristol’s floating harbour.
The office, previously in Redland, now takes up the building’s entire third floor which it has sub-let from head tenant, law firm Bevan Brittan.
The deal makes it almost certain that take-up in the Bristol office market this year will be in excess of 1m sq ft, a level last seen in 2007. The largest office deal this year is Ovo Energy’s 70,000 sq ft acquisition of One Rivergate at Temple Quay.
As well as providing centrally located, prestigious office space with a raft of on-site facilities, the relocation enables all Parsons Brinkerhoff staff to work together on one floor rather than over several floors as in its previous premises.
Property consultants Alder King and GVA secured the deal for Kings Orchard while Parsons Brinkerhoff was represented by Knight Frank.
Catherine Collis of Alder King’s Bristol office agency team said: “This latest deal follows the 15,000 sq ft letting at Kings Orchard to Tribal Group earlier this year, which at the time was also the second largest transaction in the city centre, and demonstrates the property’s enduring appeal as a business location.”
Bevan Brittan director of property and facilities Rob Stanley added: “We are delighted that Kings Orchard is benefiting so strongly from the strong performance of the Bristol office market.
“We have now secured 32,000 sq ft of lettings this year with two of this year’s top 10 transactions.”
Bristol Business News will carry a full analysis of the Bristol commercial property market and its recovery in 2014 in early January.
