Bristol-headquartered regional property consultancy Alder King has made another strategic appointment in its planning team.
John Shakespear has joined the practice as a senior planner from Tetra Tech Planning in Bristol.
John, pictured, is the fourth planner to join Alder King from global consultancy Tetra Tech’s Bristol office in a month following the arrival of Sarah Hawkins, Gary Morris and Tristan Hutton as partners.
John, who worked for Tetra Tech for just over two years, has broad private and public sector experience in the retail, commercial and advertising sectors.
He has secured planning consents for a leading national supermarket chain and contributed to numerous retail, leisure and town centre study reports for multiple local authorities across the UK.
He has also helped secure consents for the upgrading of a nationwide portfolio of traditional advertisement hoardings to new digital displays.
Prior to Tetra Tech, he was a town planner in WYG’s Bristol office and also has worked from Royal Bank of Scotland, Lloyds and Barclays.
Alder King planning team head Sarah Hawkins said: “We’re delighted to welcome John to the Alder King team.
“He is a high-calibre planning professional with valuable experience and expertise who will be a great asset and help us service a growing volume of instructions across the UK.”
Alder King employs around 130 people across its offices in Bristol, Cardiff, Exeter, Gloucester, Swindon, Taunton and Truro, providing a full spectrum of planning services to private and public sector clients nationwide.
It has won the Estates Gazette South West Most Active Agent award for 20 consecutive years.
