The Belt-Up School of Motoring has continued its expansion by acquiring a long-established driving school in Somerset.
Paulton-based Belt-Up, which includes the fleet driver coaching business Enterprise Solutions and operates 10 franchisees operating in the Bath and Bristol area, is on course to double its turnover to £250,000 this year following the takeover of Street-based Atlas Driving School.
Atlas was set up by Patrick Tucker, who has been a driving instructor since 1969. He set up the Tor School of Motoring in 1972, which he sold before launching Atlas in 1990.
Atlas will continue to operate under its own name as a subsidiary of the Belt-Up School of Motoring with Mr Tucker receiving a percentage of its profits.
Belt-Up School of Motoring founder Josef Harle, pictured below, who is also a director of Enterprise Solutions, said: “Patrick is a well-known and respected driving instructor in Somerset, and Atlas is a long-established name, especially in the Glastonbury and Street area.
“Belt-Up’s driving instructors operate mainly in the Bath and Bristol area but acquiring the Atlas brand will enable us to expand our operations further south into Somerset.”
