Jelf Employee Benefits, the Yate-based independent full-service brokerage which supports businesses and individuals, has helped business services giant Serco win the Most Effective Absence Management and Rehabilitation Strategy category at the Employee Benefits industry awards.
The highly-regarded accolade was awarded following consideration by the judges against strict criteria and only once entrants could prove they had ‘made a concerted effort to reduce long- and short-term sickness absence’.
The judges were impressed with Serco’s implementation as well as the results achieved, together with the proactive assistance available for all employees. This assistance starts with early absence notification to a central system, which triggers bespoke support, with the emphasis very much focussed on looking after the employee.
Other contenders for the award were Browne Jacobson, ICAP (entered by Bluefin), KPMG and Schaeffler.
Jelf Employee Benefits director of group risk Chris Ford said: "Managing absence is key for any company, and it can be particularly difficult for large and diverse companies; we have worked closely with Serco and all stakeholders for the absence process to help them proactively manage absences from the vital early stages."
Ashleigh Witcher for Serco said: "For us, absence management is about looking after our employees and offering support at a time when staff most need it. We’re delighted to be recognised for our work in this area."
The awards were held at the Artillery Garden at The Hac, Central London.
