Bristol-headquartered national law firm TLT is to strengthen its offering to clients in the future energy, infrastructure, public law and planning sectors with the arrival of 29 specialist lawyers.
The experts, who include eight partners and 21 associates, are joining from rival Broadfield (formerly BDB Pitmans).
Once on board at TLT, they take the total number of lawyers in the firm specialising in these practice areas to more than 150, making it one of the largest groups of its kind in the UK.
The move comes as the government begins investing in infrastructure and clean energy to deliver much-needed growth – with TLT keen to cementing its position as a leading adviser in these areas.
The first of the former Broadfield associates will join TLT over the next two months while two of the partners, Mustafa Latif-Aramesh and Duncan O’Connor, will start on 1 April.
Partners Sarah Clark, Nick Evans, Tom Henderson, James Ross, Angus Walker and Richard Marsh will move to TLT later this year.
While it is not unusual for large specialist teams to move from firm to firm in this way, TLT’s success in landing Broadfield’s experts in such fast-growing sectors is regarded as something of a coup.
It follows significant growth for TLT’s public sector, infrastructure and future energy teams over the past 12 months, during which it expanded its national footprint and tightened its stronghold on the clean energy sector.
The firm’s managing partner John Wood, pictured, said: “The appointment of these 29 individuals continues our ambitious growth strategy and our commitment to delivering the best client service while also maintaining our market-leading and progressive culture. We look forward to welcoming them all to TLT.”
TLT partner and head of future energy and real estate Maria Connolly, pictured, added: “The appointments of our new eight partners and the wider team, cements our position as an expert adviser to the future energy, government and infrastructure sectors, underlining our reputation and our strategic focus on meeting the current and future needs of clients.
“With the ever-evolving landscape of energy, infrastructure, planning law and regulation in the UK, including the government’s Clean Power 2030 Action Plan, the addition of these lawyers will be invaluable.
“We look forward to welcoming our new colleagues to TLT as we navigate these complex changes and deliver strategic forward-thinking solutions for our clients.”
Further demonstrating their expertise in planning and infrastructure, Nick Evans and Mustafa Latif-Aramesh are also registered as ‘Roll A’ Parliamentary agents, meaning they can help draft and promote private bills.
TLT said this made them valuable additions to its team, possessing the skills to navigate Parliamentary procedures essential for advising clients on private and hybrid bills.
In total TLT has more than 160 partners and employs around 1,700 people across its offices in Bristol, London, Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Belfast.
