A business providing mobile freezers to events and secure self storage in shipping containers is on the road to more growth after teaming up with Bristol specialist motor leasing company Vanaways.
Container Team has taken on three new vehicles and opened its first indoor self-storage facility as it looks to build on solid expansion over recent years.
The Weston-super-Mare-based firm was launched in 2002 and today employs more than 25 staff.
It operates under two brands – The Space Program, offering secure self storage in shipping containers in seven locations across the South West and South Wales, and Team Refrigeration, which provides mobile freezers and chiller units to the events, medical and hospitality sectors.
Its combined turnover is nearly £4m split between the divisions, with growth particularly strong in Team Refrigeration, which has achieved a seven-fold increase over the past five years.
Managing director Ricky Williams, pictured, right, with Cedric Ratnasingham and Gabby Bath of Vanaways, took over running the business last year and is now steering the business towards further growth, with a near £500,000 investment in the Tewkesbury site, where it has operated a successful container self-storage operation since 2016.
The new VW Transporter Sportline and two new Ford Ranger Tremor pick-ups secured through Vanaways – itself undergoing spectacular current growth – will be used to deliver mobile refrigeration units.
They follow hot on the heels of two new vehicles taken on by Container Team in the past 12 months.
Vanaways sales executive Gabby Bath said: “It’s great to be part of Ricky’s journey as his business continues to grow.
“I’ve known him for many years as we worked in the vehicles trade together, so he knows he can rely on me and the team to provide honest, reliable advice as well as the best prices on the market.
“We’re all excited to see how The Space Program and Team Refrigeration develop over future years and we’ll be here to support with vehicles whenever he needs them.”
Ricky added: “We’ve won awards for our customer service and it’s what makes us different from our competitors,”
“The new Ranger will support our growth and allow us to deliver more of our trailers more efficiently and quickly around the country.
“We want to make sure that there’s minimal chance of customers having to wait for delivery, so reliable vehicles are vital in that respect.”
Vanaways works with a large network of suppliers across the UK, offering free delivery with a digitalised sales process which enables quick fulfilment of the customer’s fleet needs.
The firm moved into new offices in Ham Green last year following a dramatic increase in turnover in 2023, and is on now track to sell more than 6,000 vehicles this year.
In June it was listed at 60 on The Sunday Times list of the UK’s 100 fastest-growing companies.
Vanaways general sales manager Cedric Ratnasingham said: “Alongside our relationship with large businesses, our work with Container Team is a great example of what has fuelled our growth.
“We share an ethos with those smaller businesses that pride themselves on customer service over short-term profit, and we’re keen to support as they innovate and grow.
“We’re sure Ricky’s ambitions will be realised over the coming years and we’re happy to partner with him and the team on that journey.”
The partnership with Container Team is the latest in a series of strategic arrangements secured this year by Vanaways.
These have included partnerships with Veriforce CHAS, the UK’s leading provider of risk prevention, compliance and supply chain services for contractors, and Fleetmaxx Solutions, which provides fuel cards that can be used at more than 3,500 filling stations across the country.
