Law firm Thrings has welcomed its latest tranche of apprentices as it continues its longstanding commitment to supporting different routes into legal careers.
Francesca Chisholm, Isabel Warner and Lizzie Parry, pictured, have joined the firm as it is again recognised as one of the best firms in the country for trainees in a respected student guide to the top UK law firms.
The Legal 500 Future Lawyers report draws on feedback from current trainees on how well their firm rates across 14 different categories of employment experience – with awards going to firms in the top 20 of each.
With seven top 20 rankings in the recently released 2024-25 rankings – five of them in the top 10 – Thrings has demonstrated why it is one of the best law firms in the country for training contracts, placing joint-fourth overall out of almost 90 firms featured.
Francesca has joined the firm’s corporate team in Bristol as its new solicitor apprentice, with Isabel starting a similar role in the Bath-based family team.
Meanwhile, Lizzie takes on the role of paralegal apprentice within Thrings’ property litigation team across its Bath and Swindon offices.
Thrings managing partner and training principal Simon Holdsworth said: “It is fantastic to see Francesca, Isabel and Lizzie all take on these new roles, which will give them more flexibility to learn and grow on the job without the more traditional structure of a traineeship.
“Each one of them has excelled with us in their previous roles and I look forward to seeing them flourish as they continue to learn.”
He said the firm was delighted that in this year’s Legal 500 Future Lawyers rankings Thrings is up with, and even ahead of, some of the bigger names in the legal sector.
“It represents exactly what we are looking to achieve in terms of developing our junior colleagues, giving them the best possible introduction to their careers in whatever area of law they choose, and is a testament to the incredible work done by our teams to give them the well-rounded experience that will make them great lawyers,” he added.
Thrings was ranked in the Legal 500 Future Lawyers for:
- Vacation Scheme
- Job satisfaction
- Work/life balance
- Approachability of supervisors
- Work from home
- Inclusiveness
- Client contact
Feedback from trainees interviewed highlighted how the firm was “great for learning and building experience” with its staff “kind, helpful and supportive”, with one trainee adding that “the firm resonated with my values and has lived up to the expectations that I had”.
In offering its verdict of Thrings, the Legal 500 Future Lawyers praised the firm for its “wide variety of seat options” with recruits being kept motivated by an “excellent retention rate.”
In summary it tells its readers: “If a firm with a ‘broad range of areas of expertise’, including a unique agriculture focus, and ‘excellent training’ sounds like the perfect package, research Thrings.”
Thrings employs around 350 people in seven offices across the South West and South with a focus on enabling growth and success for its clients, contacts and staff.
