Bristol law firm Barcan+Kirby has continued to strengthen its professional reputation with the appointment of four new trainee solicitors.
Abbie Priggis, Caleb Kay, Jack Agates and Tegenn Holloway, pictured, started their contracts last month with the firm, which has five offices across Bristol and South Gloucestershire. 
The four trainees had been among a group of aspiring solicitors previously invited to Barcan+Kirby’s assessment centre for the day.
At the event they got to learn more about Barcan+Kirby, meet other trainees and discover more about their journey, as well as undertaking a number of activities to assess if they were the right fit for the firm.
Caleb and Tegenn have joined straight from university and are taking their first seats in the private client departments in the firm’s Gloucester Road and Kingswood offices.
Jack has previous experience of pro-bono work as part of his undergraduate studies at UWE Bristol, which focussed on family, employment and civil claims. He is now taking his first seat in the family department in Kingswood.
Abbie took part in the Clive Stafford Smith internship at university, which focussed on death row cases in America. She is taking her first seat in the civil litigation department in Barcan+Kirby’s Prince House office in Bristol city centre. 
The trainees will undertake four seats over the two years of their training contracts, picking up invaluable experience with the support of their mentors.
They will also get to shadow senior members of staff who have an array of different specialisms, developing their legal expertise and confidence while assisting with client matters.
The trainees will also be able to take advantage of Barcan+Kirby’s trainee development workshops to share their experiences with each other during the course of their contracts.
These will enable them to build relationships, gain firm-wide exposure and showcase their project management skills.
Barcan+Kirby managing partner Bill Willcocks said it was great to welcome the four new trainees to the firm.
