Accountancy group Grant Thornton UK has promoted Andrew Charter to client service director in its Bristol office, a role in which he will develop the practice in the South West and Wales.
This will include supporting and training the team, leading on new hires and attracting new clients.
Andrew, pictured, who has been an associate director with Grant Thornton in Bristol for almost 10 years, will also work nationally in the industrial and facilities management sectors.
He has extensive merger and acquisition experience spanning more than 30 years across many different sectors, with his recent achievements including overseeing the successful sale of Taylor Maxwell to Brickability, a deal that won a prestigious AIM Transaction of the Year Award.
He has also been instrumental in the sales of Partnership of Care to Mysa Care, which is backed by Downing; Hornbill Engineering to OCU Group; Crusader Medical to Civitas and Envivo; and Accuro Group Holdings to OCS Group, backed by CD&R.
Andrew, who prior to joining Grant Thornton spent 16 years with Gambit Corporate Finance in Cardiff, said: “We have a fantastic team here in the South West and Wales, and I am eager to continue building on our strengths.
“They are also key regions supporting the UK’s economic growth and have many great businesses which attract significant interest from domestic and international investors.
“I’m committed to continuing to grow our transaction advisory team and securing investment in the local economy to enable our clients to navigate and realise their strategic goals.”
Grant Thornton UK corporate finance partner Jamie Roberts said Andrew’s promotion was testament to his exceptional skills and dedication.
“His extensive knowledge and experience make him ideally suited to helping grow the South West and Wales economies,” he added.
“We are confident that he will continue to drive our commitment to supporting mid-market businesses in the region.”
