Corporate law experts based in Clarke Willmott’s Bristol office have acted for a rapidly expanding Scandinavian healthcare group on its first UK acquisition.
The team, which also included lawyers from other Clarke Willmott offices, advised Asker Healthcare Group during its takeover of Hugo Technology.
Asker, which provides medical supplies, devices and equipment to care providers across Europe, is pursuing a strategy to build and acquire leading companies that support the healthcare system to improve patient outcomes, reduce total cost of care and ensure a fair and sustainable value chain.
Over the past 15 years it has made more than 50 acquisitions – with Hugo Technology the sixth this year.
Bromsgrove-based Hugo Technology provides medical and laboratory equipment repair and maintenance services to global medical device original equipment manufacturers and has 85 employees.
The corporate team at Clarke Willmott was led by partner and head of its national corporate team Ed Foulkes and included Simon Smith, Simon Thomas, Cormac Hayes, Amy Peacey, Irene Richardson, Sarah McLarty and Louise Rogers.
Ed Foulkes, pictured, said: “We are delighted to have assisted Asker Healthcare on this transaction. The group has significant growth plans and Hugo Technology fits perfectly with its ethos.”
Asker Healthcare Group CEO Johan Falk added: “Having signed and closed on the acquisition of Hugo Technology, we would like to thank Clarke Willmott for their excellent work and all the support during this process.
“We are pleased to welcome Hugo Technology and their competent team to the group. They have over the past 25 years built a strong reputation among quality original equipment manufacturers and on the UK market.”
He said the acquisition of Hugo Technology was an add-on to German firm CRS Medical, which it snapped up last October, and would further strengthen Asker’s position in the growing area of technical services.
“We see many possibilities for the two companies to benefit from each other to support the customers even better,” he added.
Clarke Willmott also has offices in Birmingham, Cardiff, London, Manchester, Southampton and Taunton.
