The Bristol office of national accountancy and business advisory firm BDO has announced its second senior appointment in as many weeks as it looks to strengthen its position in the market.

James Mohide, pictured, has been recruited as a tax director to bolster its South West private client services (PCS) team.

His arrival comes hot on the heels of the appointment of partner Jamie Smith to lead its financial services audit team in the region.

James specialises in supporting entrepreneurs throughout the exit process, ensuring a successful outcome while helping them realise their future ambitions.

James has joined BDO from the Bristol office of EY, where he spent the past three years and three months as a senior tax manager, having earlier worked at the firm as a tax manager.

He has also worked for Bristol financial planners Paradigm Norton and Smith & Willamson (now Evelyn Partners).

James’ arrival is part of an ambitious drive by BDO to expand the PCS team across the South West.

At BDO, he will be responsible for helping to develop the existing and well-established tax service offering in the region by providing private client wealth planning and tax advisory support to entrepreneurs and their private businesses.

BDO partner and head of tax in Bristol, Paul Falvey, said: “We’re delighted to welcome James to our rapidly expanding private client services team in the South West.

“In the last 12 months, we have invested significantly in the region, cementing our position in the market by attracting talented and high-performing individuals to strengthen our proposition.

“James will add considerable value as we continue to grow our tax and private client teams across the region.”

James added: “This is a really exciting time to be joining BDO, following the recent growth trajectory the practice has been on in the last 12 months, spearheaded by the fantastic talent we have in our private client services team.

“We all have a desired aim to continue on that successful path, fulfilling a key pledge by the firm to build on our heritage while looking towards the future.

“Our ambitions are set against an evolving political backdrop which will undoubtedly see a change in tax legislation over the coming months, with the added debate around whether current tax policy is fit for purpose given the societal and economic changes occurring in the UK.”

BDO operates 17 offices across the UK employing 7,500 people offering tax, audit and assurance and a range of advisory services.
