West brewer Bath Ales has signed a lease for its biggest outlet to date and one that is set to become a flagship for the fast-growing business.
At just over 5,000 sq ft, the new site is double the size of any of the Warmley-based brewery’s other outlets. Bath Ales plans to open the venue next to Bath Spa train station as the latest in its Graze Bar, Brewery and Chophouse chain, before Christmas.
The new Graze takes Bath Ales’ tally of managed sites to 11 and will be its third Graze Bar & Chophouses. The first was launch
ed in Bristol’s Queen Square in 2009 and the Cirencester branch was added earlier this year.
Bath Ales retail director Robin Couling said: “This is a really exciting development for us. The existing Graze locations have been fantastically well received and with a central location attracting both visitors and residents we are confident that Graze will be a welcome addition to the city of Bath.”
Award-winning Bath Ales has already opened two venues this year – in Oxford and Cirencester.
The Bath Graze will be part of a new food quarter in the final phase of the city’s new £360m shopping centre now under development. It is being created in and around the arches of the 19th century railway station.
The bar and restaurant will take up the entire first floor with two large outside areas for al fresco dining. It will seat around 140 diners.
It will also have a large open-plan kitchen, a meat hanging room and a micro-brewery producing specialist craft beers.
