South West accountancy firm Albert Goodman is celebrating a strong 2023/24 financial year, which started with the opening of its new Bristol office and concluded with it posting a 17% increase in annual turnover.
The firm also recruited 41 new staff during the period, including 32 trainees.
The 158-year-old, Taunton-headquartered firm, which now has more than 300 staff and 21 partners, said achieving revenue of £21.4m during the 12 months to April reflected its confidence in its offering and people.
It also grew its audit team and financial planning teams by 25% and 22% respectively during the year.
The firm which also has offices in Yeovil, Weymouth and Weston-super-Mare, works across a range of specialisms spanning audit & accounts and business support services to litigation support, payroll bureau and VAT services.
In May last year it relocated its Bristol base from a small hub in Westbury-on-Trym to a 3,000 sq ft office on King Street, which has been fitted out with an environmentally conscious design.
That was followed by it securing a coveted B Corp accreditation last August in recognition of its pursuit of purpose as well as profit.
Shortly before the end of the financial year it unveiled new branding using a vibrant palette with strong pinks which it said would be a key differentiator in the crowded marketplace and better reflect its confidence as a fiercely independent business.
Albert Goodman managing partner Iain McVicar, pictured, said the firm continued to take an ambitious and sustainable approach to expanding its footprint and services across the South West and beyond.
He added that as well as bringing in 41 new people it had made two new partner appointments.
“What is particularly pleasing about this, is that they were internal promotions,” he said.
Achieving B Corp had been a major milestone for the firm, he added.
“This kind of accreditation isn’t something that happens overnight and is a testament to our ongoing commitment to environmental and social goals.”
