Waste management and recycling specialist Grundon is in the running for a pair of prestigious South West regional business awards after investing heavily in its Bristol operations over recent years,
Since becoming established in Bristol in 2020, Grundon has grown steadily and set up several key sustainability initiatives, including a depot in St Philips and introducing a £300,000 electric collection vehicle onto the city’s streets last summer.
It has now been shortlisted in the Medium Business and Family Business categories of the Circle2Success (C2S) Awards, which attract entrants from hundreds of businesses across the South West.
Judging will take place next month ahead of the finalists being announced in May. The awards are handed out at a special ceremony, which this year takes place in Cirencester in July.
Grundon regional sales manager Daniel Peacey, pictured, said: “Our team has put in a lot of hard work this year and we’re ambitious about the future, so it’s great to be down to the final few in the categories we’ve entered.
“Fingers crossed we’ll be successful at the finals – we’ll be working hard in the meantime to ensure our customers continue to receive the quality services they expect from us.”
Grundon was founded in 1929 and is now managed by the third generation of the Grundon family following the handing over of the reins to Neil Grundon in November 2022.
During the past year its client base in the South West has grown to more than 3,300 businesses served by its St Philips depot and a sister site at Bishop’s Cleeve, near Cheltenham.
Over the coming months it will also be developing and equipping a new centre in Avonmouth to further increase its regional presence.
Daniel said the firm had exciting plans for the next few months and years.
“Our presence and reputation in Bristol’s city region and across the South West is growing all the time, and we’re looking to develop our offering with some interesting and exciting schemes,” he added.
“A new, forward-thinking culture is emerging in many aspects of the UK business community – one where longevity and sustainability are proving to be genuine business benefits, rather than nice-to-haves.
“Our client base recognises the brand value of partnering with a waste management provider that understands that their customers, in turn, expect to buy from organisations that take their environmental impact seriously.
“So we’re at the forefront of the sustainability revolution, not only because of what we do, but for how we do it – placing the values of quality and integrity at the forefront of our operations.”
C2S is a business community made up of businesspeople who care about their employees, the planet, their community and profit.
Its founding director Angela Edwards said: “This year has seen the largest number of entries from across the region making our C2S Business Awards the largest, most-prestigious business awards in the South West.
Berkshire-headquartered Grundon works with customers across the South of England to provide a total waste management service for the reduction, reuse, recycling, recovering and disposal of waste.
