Call goes out for submissions to South West’s most prestigious property awards

The prestigious property awards staged by regional law firm Michelmores are returning early in 2024, marking 21 years of celebrating the South West’s best property, development and construction projects.

The awards – regarded as among the most coveted in the region – will also include a new category showcasing the best regeneration projects.

Having long championed sustainability and innovation, the 11 awards place social, environmental, sustainable and economic values at the heart of their judging criteria – with these attributes considered just as important as a project’s aesthetics and purpose.

Last year the winners included the YTL Development’s Brabazon development at Filton, which secured the award for Residential Project of the Year (36 homes and over).

Previous winners have included The Wave, the ground-breaking inland surfing attraction at Easter Compton, pictured, which topped the Leisure & Tourism category in 2020. Two Bristol residential schemes – Wapping Wharf Living (Phase 2) and the four-storey, 136-home Copper Building development at Lakeshore, South Bristol – have also previously won the Residential Project of the Year award, (36 homes and over).

Michelmores, which has an office in Bristol, said next year’s awards would continue to recognise a wide range of commercial and residential projects, with shortlisted and winning schemes placed firmly in the industry’s spotlight.

To highlight progression in the industry, the new Regeneration Project of the Year category will showcase projects that involved work of significant refurbishment, retrofitting, regeneration or transformation value on an existing property or brownfield site, giving it a new lease of life and an environmentally efficient future.

Michelmores head of property Emma Honey said: “It is clear that the South West continues to be a heavyweight when it comes to innovation and ambition and we have seen exceptional projects that lead the way in sustainability in the real estate sector.

“I look forward to seeing these elements reflected in this year’s event.”

Head of the firm’s private wealth team Chris Massey added: “Michelmores’ reputable and inspiring Property Awards continue to go from strength-to-strength.

The awards are all about finding out what’s happening on the ground and celebrating property, real estate and construction in our regions.

“Our judges look for those who are engaged in making these projects truly remarkable and I am eager to see some of this years’ most impressive submissions come in.”

Projects from across the South West that were largely completed during 2023 are invited to enter, with the deadline for submissions on Friday 19 January 2024.

The awards ceremony will take place on Thursday 27 June at Sandy Park Conference Centre in Exeter and, as in previous years, will celebrate bringing together all those who contribute to the region’s property, real estate and construction sectors.

The judging panel for the 2024 awards will be announced soon.
