Regional accountancy, tax and advisory firm Bishop Fleming has appointed a new finance director to help drive its ambitious growth.
Chartered accountant John Mockridge, pictured, centre, with Bishop Fleming partner Robert Davey and managing partner Andrew Sandiford, will be based in Bishop Fleming’s Bristol office and will be responsible for the firm’s accounting and finance systems as it continues to expand.
Having worked in several finance, audit, and merger and acquisition roles, John joins Bishop Fleming from the Bristol office of national law firm DAC Beachcroft, where he held several finance leadership roles spanning 11 years.
Prior to that he spent six years at Big Four accountancy firm Ernst & Young (now EY).
Bishop Fleming, which delivers audit, accounting, tax and advisory services to businesses and individuals across the South West and West Midlands, has grown rapidly in recent years.
Its fee increased by 15.5% to £38.4m in 2022 while its headcount has gone above 500 for the first time. The top 30 firm is currently ranked 5th in the Accountancy Age UK Mid-Tier Power Rankings and is certified as a Great Place to Work.
It also opened a base in Cheltenham last year, taking its network of offices to eight.
John said: “I’m thrilled to have joined Bishop Fleming at a time when the firm has embarked on an exciting period of growth.
“I am relishing the fresh challenge this will bring and look forward to engaging with all parts of our business as we go on that journey.”
Bishop Fleming partner, and management board member Robert Davey added: “I’m delighted to welcome John to spearhead our finance team, as we enter the next exciting phase of our firm’s development.
“He brings a wealth of experience, and we look forward to benefiting from his insight and extensive expertise to drive us forward.”
