Webinar will shed light on why too few B Corp-certified businesses are female owned

Female-led B Corps will be celebrated in a webinar next week staged by Purplefish, the Bristol communications and marketing consultancy that achieved the accreditation last year.

The international B Corps movement promotes business as a force for good through its certification scheme that encourages companies to operate a triple bottom line of people, profit and purpose.

But while there are 1,200 B Corps in the UK, fewer than 25% are female owned. The webinar, which takes place next Wednesday, 29 March, between 10am and 11am, will bring together a group of female B Corp founders to discuss and share lessons and insights useful for all businesses.

On the panel will be:

  • Joanna Randall, founder and managing director of Purplefish
  • Rowan Morrison, co-founder and managing director of strategic brand and communications agency Rationale
  • Nina Postans, head of marketing of full-service video production company Skylark Media
  • Helena Hills, co-founder and CEO of sustainable coffee manufacturer TrueStart Coffee

During the interactive discussion, the panel will explore the positive impact certification can have on a business, the challenges of the certification process itself, and why the current B Corp cohort in the UK lacks diversity.

With more than 20 B Corps, Bristol is second only to London for accreditations, reflecting the city’s standing as a hub for businesses with purpose.

Bristol organisations with B Corp status include Business West, the region’s largest business group which also runs Bristol Chamber of Commerce, PR firms Greenhouse and Wild West, specialist energy investment company Thrive Renewables, tea brand Pukka Herbs and financial planning firm Paradigm Norton.
