Everoze Partners, the Bristol-based adviser in the renewables, storage, green hydrogen and wider energy flexibility sectors, is targeting further expansion after growing dramatically over its seven-year lifespan.
Founded by six partners in 2015 and with its largest office in Bristol’s Queen Square, the business now has a 75-strong-and-growing workforce based across the UK, France, Spain, Italy, and Germany.
Everoze’s clients range from multinational banks to community energy groups and include some of the biggest brands in the energy sector.
Its work is rooted in a strong sense of mission: to help accelerate the transition to a decarbonised energy system. It does this by making projects, companies and technologies future-proofed and ready for finance.
The company plans to continue creating exciting business opportunities and harness new technologies and enter sustainable sectors to achieve its overall mission to make projects, companies and technologies financeable and fit for a zero-carbon energy system.
The business itself has a pledge to be net zero by 2025 with strong efforts to achieve this earlier if possible.
Its high ideals are also manifested in its business model, which involves a flat structure without an internal hierarchy.
Experienced renewables and energy specialists work flexibly and autonomously, forming multi-specialist teams who bring wide-ranging expertise to meet clients’ needs.
Thanks to this streamlined model, these advisers can apply their expertise in a nimble way, without the obstacles sometimes created by a large corporate structure.
Everoze’s website puts it like this: “Goodbye departmental silos! We get our offshore wind experts working on energy storage, our UK team working on French projects, our onshore wind specialists branching into solar.
“It keeps things fresh for us and more importantly, spurs the creative cross-fertilisation of ideas which helps us deliver unique insights and value to our clients.”
To help it realise its plans, Everoze has engaged Bristol-founded law firm Temple Bright. The two firms appear a natural fit as Temple Bright also has a streamlined business model in which experienced specialists advise clients in person.
Temple Bright was founded by a small team in Bristol in 2010 and has expanded to over 70 lawyers. Temple Bright’s lawyers work in senior teams with the combined expertise to advise on deals normally the preserve of far larger firms with a traditional hierarchical structure.
Everoze first instructed Temple Bright’s tax and share schemes specialist Carol Tricks, pictured, in 2017 in connection with its employee-owned structure.
Then in May 2019 Temple Bright, led by corporate partner Sam Hawke, advised the company’s majority-owned subsidiary Quaybridge Scotland on an offshore wind procurement project which developed into a joint venture with various other parties from multiple jurisdictions.
For this deal the Temple Bright team was extensive and included, alongside Carol Tricks, specialists in banking, commercial contracts and IP & technology.
Subsequently Everoze has appointed the firm on further significant projects, with specialists in real estate and employment law joining the team.
Everoze is advised by eight Temple Bright partners in total, led by Carol and Sam.
Everoze founding partner Richard Whiting, pictured, said: “We appreciate being able to come back to the same senior lawyer in each area, and their availability makes us feel we are a high priority.
“Our main contacts are Sam Hawke and Carol Tricks, who have introduced us to Nina Peregrine-Jones, Will Whitt, Alistair Hill, Chris Crane, Aaron Bennett and Richard Neary.
“All of them understand our business and are enthusiastic about our plans for growth. We wanted a legal firm we could rely on as a partner, and that is what Temple Bright has become.
“Everoze and Temple Bright have much in common and it is great to see Bristol being the cradle for such innovation. We think streamlined, flexible business models are the way of the future for advisory firms in many sectors.
“A well thought out model benefits the client and the advisers alike, as we have found in our own business.”
Temple Bright corporate partner Sam Hawke added: “We enormously enjoy working with Everoze, a business with a real sense of mission which has expanded enormously in headcount, reach and market profile in just seven years. This shows both the power of their vision and the quality of its implementation.
“We have found Everoze to be engaged, intelligent, capable decision makers who value the input of their professional advisers, being professional advisers themselves.
“Carol and I feel that we are valued almost as part of their in-house team. Moreover the business gets involved in some really interesting projects and we are inspired by its philosophy and aims. We hope very much to help Everoze realise its exciting plans, and to be its trusted partner for many years to come.”
Temple Bright was launched in 2010, with a streamlined business model involving experienced lawyers from a City and leading regional firm background.
These lawyers work in partner-only teams, advising clients ranging from start-ups to PLCs across a broad range of sectors. The firm now has over 70 partners, spread evenly between offices in Bristol and London.
