Aer Lingus Regional yesterday celebrated the 10-year anniversary of its Bristol Airport to Cork service. Nearly 300,000 passengers have travelled on the route, operated by Aer Arann, since it was launched and it has become an important commercial link for business and leisure passengers and has supported tourism in both cities.
Aer Lingus Regional operates one flight daily between Bristol and Cork. The service commenced operating under the Aer Arann brand on July 1 2002 and was rebranded to Aer Lingus Regional in March 2010.
Aer Arann’s interim chief executive Sean Brogan said: “We believe the connections from Bristol to Cork provide excellent support for both the tourism industry and economic life generally in both regions and we expect the route to continue to be a success."
Aer Lingus director of communications Declan Kearney said: “Aer Lingus’ first ever flight landed in Bristol in 1936 and we’ve enjoyed strong support from our Bristolian customers ever since. We are delighted to be celebrating this significant milestone with Aer Lingus Regional.”
Bristol Airport aviation director Shaun Browne added: “Aer Lingus has a long history at Bristol Airport and the continued success of the Cork route demonstrates that these links are still just as strong today.”
To mark the celebrations, one lucky passenger travelling on the Bristol-Cork route received two complimentary return flights and a bottle of champagne.
