Intellectual property, IT and data privacy lawyer Ashley Avery has joined the Bristol office of national law firm Foot Anstey as a partner in its commercial team.
Ashley, pictured, will be advising clients on complex data privacy and confidentiality issues, brand protection and exploitation and software development and licensing matters.
She joins from City firm Travers Smith, where she trained and went on to spend more than 13 years, including most recently as senior counsel in its commercial, IP and technology department.
While at Travers Smith she worked with a number of high-profile clients across the technology, pensions, retail and financial services sectors and was seconded to Ambassador Theatre Group, which owns more than 50 theatres, including 10 in London’s West End, and Deliveroo.
Ashley said: “I am thrilled to be joining Foot Anstey and am excited to have the opportunity to build my practice area alongside some excellent lawyers.
“Foot Anstey has a great reputation for its collaborative and human approach, which very much appeals to me. I am looking forward to meeting more of the team and getting started.”
Foot Anstey managing partner John Westwell said: “Ashley’s experience will be a great asset to the firm. She is an excellent example of the type of high-calibre lawyer that has powered our organic growth over the last 10 years and has been attracted by our culture of support and empowerment for leaders with an ambition for growth.”
Foot Anstey’s Bristol office has also recently appointed Debbie Asquith as a managing associate in its farm, estates and rural land (FERL) team. Debbie has joined from the Bristol office of transatlantic firm Womble Bond Dickinson.
