The HR World, the news and networking platform recently started by Bristol recruitment industry entrepreneur Mike Beesley, has appointed its first senior reporter.
Alex Crowther will lead the news and content production for the online publication, which is run by former Bristol Post journalist-turned-PR executive Sarah Rice, pictured with Alex.
The HR World has been launched to support human resources professionals navigate the new world of work.
It is among a raft of projects by Mr Beesley, who co-founded Bristol-based Sanderson, one of the UK’s leading independent recruitment businesses, in the late 70s and stepped down as its chief executive last year after 41 years at the helm.
Alex joins The HR World with a range of experience, having worked since he was 16 across a number of news, PR and comms roles.
These include as Weston-super-Mare AFC’s marketing and communications manager since 2018. He also helped create the Jill Dando News Centre, which trains students across the South West in the skills and know-how needed to become news journalists.
He recently graduated with a first-class degree in Broadcast Journalism from UWE, where Sarah Rice was among his lecturers.
Alex’s main roles at The HR World will be sourcing and writing stories and managing social media, as well as helping host unique events.
Sarah said: “Alex is a first-class operator with a great news sense and digital savvy.
“For someone comparatively young he comes with a strong background of producing high quality content, but also brings a good commercial head too. We’re extremely pleased to welcome him to the team.”
Alex added: “The future of work is an area I am really interested in and the timing of this opportunity could not be more perfect.
“HRs have been at the forefront of the changes needed to support us through the past 18 months. I’m looking forward to uncovering and telling the stories of how the employment landscape is developing in the crucial time ahead.”
