More than 250 volunteers across the South West are trading their usual Friday at work for a day of voluntary work as part of Give & Gain Day, the UK’s only national day of employee volunteering run by business charity Business in the Community.

Working in teams, they are contributing their skills, talent and experience to help groups with real needs in the community including the SOFAS project, St Werburghs City Farm, Young Bristol and a number of primary schools across the city.

Business in the Community has identified employee volunteering as one of the key ways that businesses can develop meaningful sustainable relationships with communities. Employers backing the campaign include Beachcroft, Carillion, Chartis Insurance, GSS, Kier, Lloyds Banking Group, Rolls-Royce and SITA.

Tim Porter, Commercial Banking Network Director at Lloyds Banking Group and South West Chairman of Business in the Community said: “Give & Gain Day is a fantastic way to get involved with the community, meet new people and make a difference. Volunteering is a rewarding experience and it’s great to get out of the office for a worthwhile cause.”

Give & Gain Day is run by Business in the Community, with national sponsors Lloyds Banking Group, Eversheds LLP and Hewlett Packard in association with BT and GyroHSR.
