Bristol-headquartered law firm GL Law has been admitted as a full member of LawNet, the network of independent UK law firms that promotes excellence and provides a range of benefits for its members.

GL Law, which employs more than 70 fee earners and legal support staff, said joining LawNet would help it to build on its commitment to quality and support its ambitious growth plans.

LawNet has 68 member firms across the UK, including 10 in the South West. The only other Bristol member is VWV.

One of the attractions for GL Law was LawNet’s commitment that all members attain the network’s ISO9001 quality standard and undergo annual independent auditing to ensure they deliver the highest standards in client care and professional service.

That includes the LawNet Mark of Excellence, for which network members must take part in mystery shopping and online customer surveying, with resulting feedback being used to guide future training and development.

GL Law managing director Richard Hill, pictured, said: “We had already recognised the importance of changing the way we work and deliver services to clients prior to the pandemic, which is why aligning with other highly regarded national firms through LawNet, to collaborate and share ideas, is a key part of our growth strategy.

“We’re very proud of our brand and our values, and LawNet’s ethos is a positive reinforcement of those values.  We’re looking forward to working together to build on our success and to continue to provide stand out service to our clients.”

GL Law’s history dates back to the 1800s and today provides tailored legal services to businesses and private individuals in Bristol, across the UK and worldwide.

Last year the firm, which also has an office in London, rebranded and moved to fully agile working and is actively recruiting across a number of its practices as it continues to grow.

LawNet chief executive Chris Marston said: “GL Law are exactly the sort of firm that we want in the network – they have ambitious plans built on quality work and outstanding client care.  We will be supporting them in realising those ambitions.

“Membership is by invitation and firms have to meet stringent entry standards.”

The LawNet network was established in 1989 to enable a collaborative, non-competing national network where independent law firms could access big firm resources and benefit from collective purchasing, shared knowledge, best practice and expertise.

As well as quality and risk management accreditation, the network provides training in legal practice and management skills, marketing support and access to a range of office support services.  It also provides a group professional indemnity insurance scheme for members.
