Twoday Coffee Roasters will be presented with Bristol Independents’ Favourite Food Business trophy at the Bristol Food Conference on Monday.
The firm, based in Kingsdown, won the Favourite Local Food Trader award after collecting the highest number of votes in a competition run by the Bristol Independents to raise awareness of the city’s great independent food producers and retailers.
Frank Deane of Twoday Coffee Roasters said he believed the award is due to the firm’s uncompromising attitude to quality.
“None of the coffees we sell in our shop are older than two days after roasting – hence our name Twoday coffee roasters,” he said.
Joint runners-up were Westbury family run deli and café Zest and Cafe Kino on Stokes Croft, which is run as a co-operative.
Bristol Independents co-founder Jane Stevenson said: “The Bristol Independents campaign wants Bristol’s local economy to flourish and thrive. Each pound spent with a local retailer, selling local produce, puts twice as much money back into the local economy. That’s why great independents such as Twoday Coffee Roasters deserve our support.”
Bristol Independents campaign – a joint venture between Bristol Food Network, Bristol Food Policy Council and Destination Bristol – highlight the city’s rich legacy of diverse independent retail centres.
Voting in the competition ran from October to March.
Monday’s Bristol Food Conference takes place at Brunel’s Old Station, Temple Meads.
