A major music event spearheaded by Bristol teens has secured sponsorship from leading businesses.
Jubilation Bristol 2012, a music project designed to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, as well as create a long-standing musical legacy within the city, has acquired sponsors for its first major event including DAS, Triodos, the Society of Merchant Venturers, Evans Audio Visual Staging, Nisbets, Bristol Music Trust and JBP PR & Parliamentary Affairs.
The businesses have come out in support of the exclusive music gala event, which will occupy all areas of Colston Hall tomorrow and will feature choirs and an ensemble of musicians and vocalists from across the city.
Artists will be performing high-quality music and song from a range of genres spanning classical, gospel, world, roots, r'n'b and pop.
A Creative Youth Leadership team, made up of a dozen 14 to 22 year olds from across the city, formed to spearhead the event, and have been tasked to work in collaboration with schools, arts organisations and venues to deliver the project.
Bob Screen, head of marketing at legal expenses insurance company DAS, said: “DAS is proud of its Bristol heritage and over the decades the company has been involved in a wide variety of community events and projects. We are delighted to be adding our support for an event that is designed to showcase the city’s young musical talent."
Over the next five months, the project aims to develop solid musical partnerships, encourage musical participation of diverse communities across the city and support young people who want to plan and manage regular inclusive, youth-led workshops.
The Jubilation Bristol 2012 project will be marked by two major milestones, which includes the gala event on June the 9th and the participation of the Jubilee Music Gala choirs and singers over the 10-day Gathering Voices Festival of Song in October.
Gathering Voices, the charity behind the project, formed in 1985 and is run by music and performing arts professionals, known for delivering high-quality music and songs across a diverse range of styles and genres.
