The Bristol office of property consultants Alder King has let two buildings on Cheltenham Road in the city to the nearby Colston’s Girls’ School.
The all-girl academy will use the properties, which together make up 174 Cheltenham Road, for additional teaching space as it continues to expand.
A modern 3,890 sq ft two-storey office building at the rear of the property will be used for The Dolphin School, Colston’s Girls’ new primary school which opens in September with 30 pupils – a number which will later increase to 60 and include boys as well as girls for the first time.
The property also includes a recently-refurbished Colonial-style period property with 2,704 sq ft over four floors which will provide accommodation for the school’s expanding sixth form.
Colston’s Girls’ has undergone a major programme of refurbishment and construction since converting from a selective, independent school to became a State-funded academy in 2008.
Today it has more than 700 pupils and the two new properties will add much-needed teaching accommodation.
Tom Dugay of Alder King’s Bristol office said: “The proximity of this accommodation made it a natural acquisition for Colston’s Girls’ School, allowing it to expand its outstanding teaching facilities without having to move away from it well-known location.”
The school has taken the property on a 20 -ear lease at a quoting rent of £12.50 per sq ft. Alder King acted on behalf of the landlord who is a private individual.
