Fitting out some of Bristol’s most stylish restaurants and bars has helped integrated services contractor Mobius Works achieved a 42% increase in annual turnover.
The Warmley-based firm, launched three years ago with just three staff, also worked with national pub chains and on a number of office and luxury residential schemes. 
New contracts won during the year helped the three-year-old firm, which now employs 49 people, end its 2019-20 financial year with a turnover of £6.8m – up £2m on the previous year.
The firm’s role as the lead contractor at the high-profile Cargo scheme at Wapping Wharf meant it worked on fit-outs of trendy restaurants Bandook, Seven Lucky Gods, pictured, and WokyKo among others.
Commercial projects included the Gather Round co-working space in Southville, bar group Loungers’ city centre headquarters and Gardiner Haskins’ retail space and offices in Old Market, while it also took the lead on the major North Bristol Baths refurbishment as well as working for a client in the aerospace sector.
Nationally, it completed a wide range of projects, including those in the hospitality sector for Star Pubs, Two Rivers and Mitchells & Butler.
One growth area was in planned and preventative maintenance and reactive work for pub chains and the firm sees continued expansion in this during the current financial year.
The firm has also maintained its support for community projects. It has committed to raising £10,000 for Bristol boxing club Empire Fighting Chance this year through 10 challenges – some of which are now being completed virtually.
It is also playing its part in the current coronavirus crisis, with some of its 14-strong fleet of commercial vehicles and drivers delivering food and supplying surplus personal protective equipment PPE to the NHS.
The firm also made a number of senior appointments during the financial year, including new commercial director Mark Shortland, business development manager James Barnacle, quantity surveyor Paul Abbott and senior contracts manager Alex Reeves. 
It has also invested in training for all staff as well as taking on two more apprentices.

During lockdown we haven’t been resting on our laurels but helping in practical ways, such as offering our fleet and drivers and surplus PPE to the NHS.”
