Bristol law firm Barcan+Kirby has strengthened its team with the appointment of four trainee solicitors.

Mollie Cameron and Ellie Jones started their careers at the firm as paralegals and have taken their first seats in residential conveyancing and clinical negligence respectively. Ella Bartley and Stephanie Pugh are both new to the firm.

Ella studied Law with Criminology at the University of Sheffield, followed by the LPC (Legal Practice Course) LLM at the University of Law in Bristol. She is taking her first seat with the firm in residential conveyancing.

Stephanie went back to university to study for a Graduate Diploma in Law. She worked as a paralegal, specifically dealing with public law cases, and continued with this while studying the LPC at UWE. She started her contract within the private client team at Barcan+Kirby.

The trainees will have to undertake four seats altogether. The firm’s range of services, spanning conveyancing and company commercial to contentious probate, will allow them to shadow senior solicitors with a variety of specialisms and turn their hands to a wide array of legal tasks.

They will also move between the firm’s six offices around Bristol and develop their client-handling skills through exposure to the firm’s varied client base.

Barcan+Kirby executive partner Anna Wilson said the firm’s training programme provided trainees with a strong foundation on which to build a career in the legal profession. As such it is an integral part of the firm’s overall success.

“Trainees are given an advanced level of responsibility and provided with an opportunity to work on real case work for real clients from the outset,” she said.

“We look forward to supporting Mollie, Ellie, Ella and Stephanie in their development over the next two years.”

Barcan+Kirby’s six offices across Bristol and South Gloucestershire provide a comprehensive range of legal services, including residential conveyancing, family law and mediation, issues relating to Power of Attorney and wills and estate planning as well as corporate and commercial work.

It was Bristol Law Society’s Firm of the Year in 2015 and earlier this year won the business award for gender at the Bristol Diversity Awards 2019.
