The Bristol offices of law firms Ashfords and DAC Beachcroft are backing the Lord Mayor of Bristol’s Children Appeal Annual Gift Gala, which raises money for disadvantaged children across the city.
They have been announced as Gold sponsors of the event, joining headline sponsor Bristol commercial property consultancy Burston Cook. Appeal supporters include Barclays Bank and executive recruitment consultancy Moon Consulting.
The gala dinner at City Hall on May 17 is a major fundraiser for the appeal, which helps the city’s most disadvantaged children.
The charity works closely with social workers to give 1,650 children a £20 voucher for food and a £20 voucher for clothing or a gift at Christmas.
The charity has been raising money for local children in need for almost 100 years and businesses have always played an important part in helping it to reach its annual £66,000 target.
This is the Ashfords’ fourth year of sponsorship. Partner and head of its Bristol office, Chris Dyson, said: “Supporting the communities in which we are based is incredibly important to Ashfords. We have seen from our involvement over a number of years just how much difference the Lord Mayor’s Charity Gift Gala makes to disadvantaged families in Bristol, so we are proud to once again be supporting this great initiative.”
DAC Beachcroft Bristol office location head Nick Knapman added: “Our office in Portwall Place has for a number of years been one of the main donation points in the city for the Lord Mayor’s Christmas Appeal and we have always been very proud to work closely with its chair Bruce Simmonds to support it. We look forward to an excellent evening at the Gift Gala in May.”
Bruce Simmonds said he was delighted that business leaders were again coming out in force to support the charity.
“This gala dinner is crucial to our fundraising efforts and we couldn’t do it without their backing. We thank them wholeheartedly,” he said.
Lord Mayor of Bristol, Cllr Lesley Alexander, added: “We are so grateful to everyone who is making this charity gala dinner possible, including our sponsors, supporters, entertainers and volunteers.”
