The Institute of Directors’ Bristol branch has used the Chinese New Year to promote its trade mission later this year to Bristol’s sister city Guangzhou.
The IoD is organising the visit in conjunction with the Government’s export-boosting body UKTI. The two organisations are planning a series of events over the next few months highlighting the existing strong trade links between Bristol and China and demonstrating how local businesses can develop their products and services to succeed in the world’s fastest-growing economy.
Organiser Richard Lowe, of the IoD Bristol branch, said: “The China Trade Mission will provide directors considering China’s market potential with a fantastic opportunity to take their first steps into the Chinese market with the backing of businesses already trading with the country.
“We have several businesses already signed up to take part, which is fantastic, but we have 30 spaces in total.”
The visit will take place in late October/early November and funding is available from the UKTI to assist any business that wants to join it.

The Bristol China Partnership, which is supporting the trade mission, is celebrating Chinese New Year and the arrival of the Year of the Dragon with a banquet on February 29 hosted by the Lord Mayor Geoffrey Gollop.
The event is backed by the IoD Bristol branch and takes place at Zen Restaurant at Harbourside. It is aimed at giving a greater insight into China’s market potential and generating discussion about business opportunities.
