Studio Diva, the Bristol-based creative agency, has been named as a finalist in at the UK games industry’s most prestigious awards.
The Queen Square-based firm will be attending the 15th annual MCV Awards on March 9 when it will compete against seven of the UK’s best specialist agencies in the Agency of the Year category.
This will be the fourth time Studio Diva has been nominated. The agency, which employs 15 people, has enduring relationships with the world’s biggest and best known gaming brands including Sony PlayStation, Call of Duty, Turtle Beach and Skylanders.
A highlight of the past 12 months was the launch of PlayStation VR – arguably the most anticipated piece of gaming hardware to hit the market in years – for which Studio Diva designed a Europe-wide 360° social media and video campaign for PlayStation VR’s Future of Play tour.
In the UK, the tour visited six cities and saw an estimated attendance of around 30,000. Click here to view a video of Studio Diva’s work for the tour.
Following the launch campaign, PlayStation VR completely sold out across the UK. The social media campaign itself received more than 32,000 interactions with 5,000-plus comments and shares and 3.1m video views.
Studio Diva founder and director Andy Barnes said: “The MCV Awards represents the pinnacle of industry accolades with the bar set very high as all the agencies are at the top of their game.
“2016 was an incredible year for us – we doubled in size, moved to a new office building and delivered some of the best work we’ve ever produced.
“At the heart of everything we do is experience and passion. Through strategic resourcing, on the video game side of the business we have handpicked a talented team of dedicated gamers and digital specialists who are obsessed with video games. So we know what works because we have our very own focus group on site.”
The PlayStation VR campaign joins numerous other high-profile projects completed in 2016, such as integrated international campaigns for Activision Blizzard, the launch of the new PS4 and PS4 Pro, event environments at EGX (the UK’s biggest video games expo) and a pro bono contribution to the marketing of the War Child video game compilation, HELP! supporting children in war zones.
Co-founder and director Suzy Barnes added: “We are thrilled to have been nominated for this award as it is a real credit to all our staff who work tirelessly on tight deadlines and under incredible pressure yet perform feats of marketing and creative magic every day.
“We pride ourselves on being ‘champions of happiness’ and I can only imagine how happy the team will be if this award ends up sitting on the mantelpiece.”
