National business recovery and rescue firm Begbies Traynor has appointed Paul Wood as a new partner in its Bristol office.
Paul, pictured, a qualified insolvency practitioner and certified accountant, has joined from accountancy firm Smith & Williamson’s Bristol office, where he spent six years, most recently as an associate director in restructuring and recovery.
He has also worked for accountants BDO an KPMG and in total has around 15 years’ experience in business recovery, working on complex trading assignments and formal insolvency work.
The focus of his work at Begbies Traynor will be on reciprocity with invoice and asset-based financiers. As the eighth regional partner, he will also support the firm’s South West regional offices, which include Bath and Swindon.
He said: “I am relishing joining what is an incredibly strong and experienced team. As the economy continues to make strides, and with the uncertainty surrounding Brexit still in the background, businesses are increasingly turning to advisors at an early stage, and the more skillsets we have that complement each other among the team, then the stronger our offering to existing and potential clients.”
Begbies Traynor regional partner Neil Vinnicombe is a former colleague of Paul Wood’s, the two having worked together 15 years ago at the Bristol office of KPMG.
He said: “Paul has spent many years establishing a reputation and broadening his experience, and his network of contacts and business relationships will help continue to drive the firm on.
“Having provided advice to directors, lenders and other stakeholders over the years in relation to their options, Paul is in a very strong position to assist companies in the South West and Wales.”
