Regional law firm Foot Anstey has appointed Paul Sankey as a partner in its clinical negligence group, further expanding its offering across the areas of clinical negligence, mental capacity and personal injury.
Paul, pictured, joins Foot Anstey’s Bristol office from a leading London firm Slater and Gordon, where he led one of the largest clinical negligence teams in the capital.
Paul is the second hire to Foot Anstey’s clinical negligence group – and the second addition to the Bristol office – in less than six months, after ‘rising star’ Holly Mieville-Hawkins joined the mental capacity team as a senior associate.
Paul is a specialist clinical negligence solicitor with a focus on adults who suffer serious brain injury as a result of negligent treatment by GPs, NHS trusts and private doctors, medical errors leading to amputations and the delayed diagnosis of cancer.
He has also won significant awards arising from claims made in relation to mistakes in orthopaedic management, surgery and radiology.
He has recently advised on multiple, successful, high-profile claims including awards of £3m for a man who became hemiplegic and severely cognitively damaged after a stroke, £1m-plus for a young woman who developed cognitive damage after cerebral abscesses, and more than £1m for a disabled man who lost his mobility and became dependent on a high level of care following a medication error.
An accredited expert, Paul is ranked as a ‘leader in his field’ by independent legal directories Chambers UK and Legal 500 with comments such as “approachable and knowledgeable” and “experienced and thorough”.
His advice is regularly sought by the media to commentate on legal issues and current cases.
Foot Anstey partner and clinical negligence group leader Robert Antrobus said: “Paul comes with high credibility and great experience in the market. His arrival is a critical part of our growth plan. We welcome Paul to the team and look forward to introducing him in person to our valued clients and contacts.”
