Handelsbanken has continued its expansion by opening a branch in Portishead in a move viewed as reflecting the town’s growing importance as a commercial hub.

The Swedish-owned bank has been steadily expanding its UK branch network and now has more than 200 across the country.

The Portishead outlet Marine View Office Park adds to its offices in Bristol’s Queen Square, Clifton and Weston-super-Mare. It also has a branch in Bath and its South West regional headquarters at Stoke Gifford, north Bristol.

The Portishead branch is in a 1,735 sq ft first-floor suite and was let by the Bristol office of regional property agents Alder King on behalf of the building’s owner PMH Western. The bank has agreed a lease on the office off a quoting rent of £14 per sq ft.

Alder King senior surveyor Tom Dugay said: “It is a sign of the growing commercial importance of Portishead that Handelsbanken has chosen to open a new branch in the town to service clients along this stretch of the M5 corridor.

“This suite provides the highest spec office accommodation within Portishead and offers excellent access to the M5 as well as the town centre and nearby marina facilities.

“The re-opening of Portishead railway station scheduled for 2019 will further enhance the park’s connectivity.”

There are now just two units remaining on the office park, which is now approximately 90% occupied.

Handelsbanken was represented by Cushman & Wakefield.
