Each week Bristol Business News gives a prominent member of the city’s business community the last word on its weekly e-bulletin.
This week Katharine Finn, regional leader of PwC in the West and Wales, answers our 10 questions.
Film you watched? So there might be a bit of a theme to some of these answers… I took the children to see the new version of Jungle Book. I actually hadn’t been very taken with the trailer but thought it was great – much darker than the cartoon though if you’ve got young kids!
Book you read? I’ve been inspired by watching War & Peace on the TV and so have dusted that down off my bookshelf where it’s sat unread for a very long time! I’m about 900 pages in, so have definitely broken the back of it but still a fair bit to go!
Music you bought/downloaded? I’ve recently joined a choir – Vox in Frox, based in the Chew Valley and run by a marvellous musical director Caroline Lowe. So my music downloads have been almost entirely the songs that we have been singing. We’re singing at a wedding, a WI concert, a Queen’s 90th birthday concert and a diamond wedding anniversary over the next few months so a fairly eclectic mix from Take That to Love Divine! Tickets available via the Vox website!
Concert or play you went to? Does Mamma Mia count as either a concert or a play? Great fun and kids really enjoyed it.
Sporting event you attended? So with children that do rugby, cricket, hockey, ballet, tennis, horse-riding and taekwondo and a husband that runs, there’s lots of sport watched! But the last thing I paid to see was ‘Judgement Day’ at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff when the four Welsh regions play each other back to back. Disappointing day out for a Cardiff Blues fan….
Holiday you went on? Skiing in Tignes – and yes the snow was great thanks!
Restaurant you ate in? The Carpenters Arms at Stanton Wick – our local pub. Great food and within walking distance!
Thing that annoyed you? You can’t spend much time in Bristol without moaning about traffic jams….
Thing that made you laugh out loud? Probably something to do with the dogs or the children or a combination of both…… generally involving a muddy puddle, a wet dog and a child that can’t move fast enough!
Piece of good advice you were given? On the day I made partner with PwC I was told not to take myself too seriously and not to forget my family!
