Nick Sturge, the director of Bristol’s Engine Shed enterprise hub, and Bristol Webstart accelerator founder Mike Jackson have been named among Britain’s 100 most successful philanthropists, investors, mentors and advisors.
The two appear on the list drawn up by Maserati and the Centre for Entrepreneurs to recognise entrepreneurs who generously give their time and resource to support the next generation of young entrepreneurs.
The Maserati 100 Index is based on nominations by members of the public who wish to put forward a candidate.
Nick Sturge, pictured right, who is director of the Bristol SETsquared Business Acceleration Centre, appears on the mentor/advisor category.
Nick has been running the SETsquared Centre for more than 10 years, providing incubation support to ventures in the centre by building a large community of professional advisors who give their time for free in clinics, workshops and mentoring support.
This has resulted in more than 200 companies being supported, which, between them, have raised more than £180m in equity, grant and debt funding with less than five business failures in that time.
Mike Jackson, pictured right, appears in the investor category. Mike established the first accelerator in Bristol, Webstart, and has supported more than 25 up-and-coming entrepreneurs, through his own private investing, leveraging his money with funds from Seedrs and mentoring.
Mike has been an active advocate of start-ups in the Bristol and Bath area and gives his time to numerous activities.
