Retired Bristol chartered accountant and ex-partner of Deloitte, John Hollingdale, has been appointed as the next honorary treasurer of Gloucestershire County Cricket Club.
John, pictured, Bristol born and bred and a lifelong Gloucestershire supporter, succeeds Tony Elgood who, under the club’s constitution, is stepping down from the role having served two three-year terms.
John, who was co-opted onto the club’s executive board in January, will formally begin his term of office at the annual general meeting on April 25.
He qualified as a chartered accountant in 1975 and began his career with what was then Deloitte Haskins & Sells, becoming a partner with the firm in 1983.
He established a successful owner managed business group which he transferred to his own practice Hollingdales in 1989.
The firm went through a series of takeovers and mergers before John left in 2003 to form The John Hollingdale Partnership.
He is also chairman of Bristol-based national refrigeration company Space Engineering Services, treasurer of the SS Great Britain and chairman of We Care and Repair, a local charity.
John said: “I am delighted to be joining Gloucestershire as its treasurer at such an exciting time for the club. As a Bristolian, I am keen to support my local community using the business skills I have developed in my career and this will be a wonderful opportunity for me to combine work and pleasure.”
Chairman Roger Cooke added: “I am very pleased that John has joined the board and agreed to become our treasurer. Tony has done an outstanding job over the six years he has filled the treasurer role and will be a tough act to follow, but I have no doubt that John will do a great job.”
