Innovative website builder platform BaseKit has moved its development team to central Bristol as the firm continues its rapid development.
The firm, launched in Chepstow in 2008 by web design entrepreneurs and brothers Simon and Richard Best along with colleague Richard Healy, now has offices in London, New York and Barcelona. The Bristol office is its main development base,
BaseKit streamlines website design by helping users turn their vision into actual working websites, which often start as a design concept in Photoshop and are then manually coded into a live site.
It has received £6.24m in venture capital with Bath-based Eden Ventures among its backers along with London-based NESTA and Barcelona-based Nauta Capital.
The funding is being used to rapidly expand its global reach and open new offices in Sao Paolo, Mexico, Buenos Aires and San Francisco.
The firm has taken 1,975 sq ft of office accommodation on the fourth floor of Bristol’s landmark office building The Pithay in a deal secured by the Bristol office of DTZ on behalf of Focalartist Ltd.
Golda Ajayi of BaseKit said: “Having outgrown our existing offices we were keen to establish a base in the city and the availability of good quality accommodation and flexible leases meant The Pithay more than met all of our requirements.”
DTZ senior surveyor in Bristol Phil Moore added: “Following a £3m refurbishment programme earlier this year, The Pithay has proven to be a popular option for large and small occupiers alike due to its central location and flexible accommodation.”
DTZ and Colliers International jointly market the available accommodation at The Pithay, which at 181,872 sq ft is one of the largest multi-tenanted buildings in the South West. Occupiers include the Department of Work and Pensions, Hyder Consulting and the Health and Safety Executive.
